I wanted to highlight some of my favourite interior design trends of 2025. You’ll notice a return to warmer and cozier interiors filled with charm and personality, as well as a significant shift away from minimalist interiors.

Some elements, such as arches, were popular with designers last year. Others, like English Style Cottage Kitchens, have really taken off recently.

Statement Greenery

What’s not to love about statement greenery?! All plants can add height to spaces, while the sculptural aspect adds visual appeal. Furthermore, bringing nature indoors creates a peaceful atmosphere. They create better air quality and are always an easy way to add colour to spaces for those who are unsure about introducing colour. If you don’t have much of a green thumb, you can always use faux plants, which are very realistic and affordable.

A Shift to Warm Wood Tones

After years of cool grey tones trending, there has been a shift back to warmer colour palettes, as they bring a sense of coziness and comfort. To create an inviting sanctuary, try using soft browns, muted terracotta, and earthy tones, as well as walnut or mahogany for furniture, millwork, and flooring.

Colour Drenching

This is a bold and dramatic painting treatment that involves painting the ceiling, walls, moulding, doors, and casing all one colour. Blurring the line between the ceiling and walls creates the illusion that the room feels bigger and taller, making a dramatic statement. This could look lovely with Benjamin Moore’s colour of the year, Cinnamon Slate.

Antiques and Vintage/Mid-Century Pieces

I love incorporating antiques or vintage pieces into my projects, as it’s a wonderful way to get beautifully detailed pieces, quality craftsmanship, and superior wood quality. It’s also a really sustainable way to revamp your space and bring in a sense of warmth and charm.

Whatever trend fits your style, you’ll need an experienced interior designer to execute your vision.

Blush

Often times people think blush means a harsher bright pink tone, but it’s actually more of a neutral tone with a very soft and quiet quality, which is perfect for creating a calm and meditative space that feels light and airy. It’s such a dreamy and peaceful tone that’s ideal for bedrooms.

Dusty Blue

Using a muted shade of blue has the same calming effect as blush and really adds a touch of serenity and sophistication to any space. This is a great choice for clients that want to add colour to a bathroom vanity or bedroom millwork while maintaining an elegant, timeless space that echoes feelings of relaxation and tranquility.

Limestone Backspalshes

A desire for natural materials, old world charm and warmth have made this material very popular for kitchens. The rustic charm of this material adds so much texture and brings major statement appeal paired with a large professional range.

Arches

Arches have been popular in interior design for ages, but have recently taken stage with organic modern style. They add an unexpected touch of playfulness, which helps create an intimate and welcoming feel. You can find endless possibilities to add arches to your home through the use of mirrors, furniture, millwork, doors, windows, and alcoves or entryways.

Rich Jewel Tones

In recent years, people are carving more colour after a long period of minimalist white and neutral spaces. This has given rise to the rich and luxurious shades emerald green, sapphire blue, and amethyst purple. Some great ways to liven up your neutral spaces are to use these bold colours for accent pillows, furniture pieces, statement art, accent walls, and accessories.

English Style Cottage Country Kitchen

After years of the modern white kitchen being popular, users are wanting a kitchen that feels more charming, cozy, and traditional. This style can be achieved with furniture style details such as exposed hinges, face frame cabinetry, and detailed furniture kicks. These kitchens also tend to have warm wood, natural stone, brass, and earthy paint palettes. It’s also important to add quaint and unique details like plate rakes, display shelves with vintage art, and pottery. Adding character to these kitchens is what makes them so inviting and reminiscent of simpler times.
